This course will provide students with experience in the formal styles of academic writing and research. They will be introduced to reading strategies that permit access to a wide range of print and non-print texts, such as video, internet, and print media that address America’s most pressing social concerns and learn to analyze them critically. Through oral presentations, collaborative writing exercises, and formal research projects, students will gain experience in utilizing these media in the classroom.
