This course is a survey from the Anglo-Saxon Conquest to the beginning of the Industrial Revolution, centering on the development of the common law and Parliament as well as the growth of England as a national state. Particular emphasis is placed on economic, social, and political developments in the Tudor, Stuart, and early Georgian periods.
