HIST 288 GE: Soc Hist Vict & 20C Europe

Using the "new" social history the course will explore the character of upper, middle, and working class society in England from the Victorian era to the present. It will focus especially on the role of Oxford and the Midlands as theintellectual and industrial center of the world Empire. There will be frequent opportunities for on site visits to country houses, museums and cities that will aid the student's understanding of the changes and continuity of the English society since 1832
